Want to be the diver everyone looks up to? Master the skills to always know where you are and where you’re going with the Underwater Navigator course. This course fine-tunes your observation skills and teaches you to use your compass with precision. If you enjoy challenges with big rewards, this course is perfect for you.

Prerequisites:

• (Junior) Open Water Divers who are at least 10 years old can enroll in the Underwater Navigator Specialty course.

Academic Focus: You’ll learn essential navigation tools, including using natural clues and following compass headings. During three scuba dives, you’ll practice:

• Estimating distance underwater.
• Compass navigation with at least five turns.
• Marking or relocating a submerged object or position from the surface.
• Creating underwater maps.

Additional Benefits:

• You may be able to earn college credit for the Underwater Navigator course – ask your instructor.
